CAPARROS, A HIT WITH
SATELITES
For much of his sporting life, Elijah
Caparros was one of the best quarterbacks in
the Winnipeg High School Football League.
He was the driving force behind the
Sisler High School Spartans football
team and also starred with the Spartans
hockey team. In fact, during the 2014-15
season, he has 19 goals and 41 points
in just 22 games at Sisler. He’s one of
the most outstanding all-around athletes
ever to wear a Spartans uniform.
Although he’s no longer a Spartan, he’s
now a North Winnipeg Satelite and according
to GM Cliff Malzensky, he’s one of the core
members of North Winnipeg’s improving
Keystone Junior Hockey League club.
“He’s a little undersized, but he’s
fearless and he’s becoming a pretty good
player for us,” said Malzensky. “We’ve
had him, on and off, since he played for
Sisler in 2014-15. Last year was his first
full season and he’s getting better.”
Last year, in 30 games, he had a goal and
four points. This year, in just nine games,
Caparros has seven goals and 11 points.
It’s a big step from the Winnipeg High
School Hockey League to the KJHL,
but the 18-year-old Elijah Caparros is
making that step. And he still has three
more seasons of KJHL eligibility.

A superb all-around athlete, Caparros
was one of the top players in the
2013 Football Manitoba U-16 Red
River Cup at Investors Group Field
despite the fact he was one of the
smallest players in the tournament.

A centre/rightwinger, Caparros has
played 46 games in the KJHL over
four seasons, beginning in 2014-15.
He played 30 of them last year.
