ADVENTURE/FANTASY PG-13
Geek heaven comes to life on the
silver screen when the creator of a
virtual reality world called the
OASIS dies and releases a video
in which he challenges all Oasis
users to find his easter egg, which
will give the finder his fortune.
Wade Watts (Tye Sheridan) finds
the first clue and starts a race for
the Egg.
Described as a space western, SOLO is centered on
a young Han Solo and his adventures with his
Wookiee partner Chewbacca, including their encounter
with Lando Calrissian, portrayed by the incredibly
talented Donald Glover. Of the few concerns going into
SOLO, just how well Alden Ehrenreich can pull off the
portrayal of the popular mercenary, who for decades has
entertained us as the rugged, yet smooth talking hustler,
found in Harrison Ford's portrayal, leaves much to be
desired. However, what Ehrenreich has to his advantage
is youth and thankfully a new SOLO origin story to
distract from the fandom of expectations centered around
the bravado which Ford brought to the character.
Set after the events of Captain America: Civil War,
Scott Lang tries to balance his home life as a father
with his responsibilities as Ant-Man, when Hope van
Dyne and Hank Pym present him with a new mission to
bring to light secrets from their past, requiring him to
team up with van Dyne as the new Wasp. Despite the
rather generic story premise for the follow up, there is
denying just how fun and entertaining the original Ant-
Man (2015) was. With no real super powers apart from
the innovative suit and a few tricks up his sleeve Paul
Rudd as Ant-Man/Scott Lang, delivered a perfect blend of
action-entertaiment and comdy, sending us home with a
smile on our face, and we don't expect it to be much
different this time around.
Four years after the events of Guardians of the
Galaxy Vol. 2, the Avengers have been torn apart
following the events of Captain America: Civil War.
When Thanos arrives on Earth to collect the Infinity
Stones for a gauntlet that will allow him to bend reality to
his will, the Avengers must join forces with the Guardians
of the Galaxy to stop him before his onslaught of
destruction puts an end to the universe. Let's be honest,
we are all curious about whose life or lives will be forever
extinguished at the hands of the mad Titan. If I had my
way (maybe wishful thinking, of course) Avengers: Infinity
War would be in two parts. I can't imagine just one movie
fully embracing the might and power of Thanos in
possesion of the guantlet and fully unleashed on Earth.
