It was a case of the expected and the not so expected in London GAA over the past two weeks as Robert Emmetts caused a shock when beating St. Gabriels in the senior hurling final, while last weekend senior football champions Tir Chonaill Gaels as predicted prevailed in the semi-final to reach another decider. ROBERT EMMETTS WIN Goals in hurling can often be key in a game and in last Sunday weeks’ senior hurling championship final at Irish TV Grounds Ruislip, it was the underdogs Robert Emmetts who got the majority with three first half goals the decisive scores in an excellent match. 24 Going into this year’s final St. Gabriels had already won the London league and as such were considered the favourites. They were also looking to bag another championship victory since doing a double in 2012-2013. Their opponents Robert Emmetts, who themselves had last won the championship in 2011, had a poor season last year and wanted to get back to their winning years of 2006-2008 when they won three finals on the trot. This season saw them a much improved outfit winning the earlier Collins Cup and so would be keen contestants. KILLER GOALS After a foggy morning in London, things cleared up come game-time with fine sunshine and a glorious day for hurling in
