This game was decided early in the second half when St. Kiernans blasted two quick-fire goals into the Tir Chonaill Gaels net. The first half was an evenly contested match with the Gaels edging things by the minimum 0-5 to 0-4. Within 5 minutes of the restart, the two Kiernans goals arrived and put the Gaels under pressure. It then went back and forth for a while but nearing the end, the Gaels did push hard but St. Kiernans managed to hold out for a famous two point win 2-7 to 1-8.
