Underdogs St. Kiernans came from behind London champions Tir Chonaill Gaels last Sunday to take the Tipperary
Cup - a moral boosting victory for a club on the rise.
St. Kiernans, a team with London born players in their
panel, have had a good season to date and their cup semifinal win over Kingdom Kerry Gaels, showed that they meant
business ahead of their clash with the Gaels in the decider.
Kiernan’s suffered just the one loss this year and this came
against the Gaels in the preliminary round of the London
44
Championship so things were set up nicely for the final. The
Gaels meanwhile in their semi-final defeated last year’s intermediate champions North London Shamrocks, a team that
surprised many in reaching that far.
The final took place on Friday evening June 12th at Ruislip
with the Gaels expected to claim further glory. Both teams
had players unavailable on account of the inter-county Cavan clash this coming weekend with the Gaels suffering most
with depleted numbers.
