It was not an easy day from a weather viewpoint as it was warm and humid but still the athletes and teams produced balanced and exciting games. MEN’S TOURNAMENT The men’s tournament was highlighted by the level of competition and quality of play throughout to the two semi-finals and finals. The final was won deservedly by Vienna Gaels who thus consolidated its regional primacy. It was an emphatic victory clearly beating Berlin GAA, which are made compliments for having still played a great tournament. Ladies football action. Photo: Padova GF. Surprise of the men’s tournament was to see two Italian clubs, Lazio and Padova, compete in the final for third place. Padua won in a beautiful and balanced game. The match for third place shows the development and progress that is being made in Italy. LADIES TOURNAMENT The Ladies tournament involved teams in the South East region along with teams from the Benelux, all together. A special circumstance saw 9 women’s teams play in this tournament with competition of the highest level. The victory went to the girls of Belgium GAA where in the final they defeated GSC Luxembourg. As for the regional tournaments, Belgium GAA confirms its superiority in the Benelux, while girls München Colmcilles won the southeast regional tournament. The women’s tournament saw the debut of the Italian team of Rovigo Venetian Lioness. Sixteen teams total, representing eight nations, 200 athletes / and balanced matches, absolute beginnings of some teams. The confirmation of the favorites and the surprise of the end part of the men’s tournament between two Italian teams. These and other highlights of the event which bode well for the Gaelic Football movement. ARTICOLO IN ITALIANO DI FILIPPO SZCZEPNYJ Il 13 giugno 2015 ha avuto luogo il Torneo di Padova di Calcio Gaelico, terza tappa del girone Europeo Sud est. Alla manifestazione hanno partecipato 7 squadre maschili e 9 femminili, per un totale di circa 200 atleti. Un buon risultato. Non è la prima volta che la città di Sant’Antonio ospita un torneo di Calcio Gaelico; nel 2013, in un evento realizzato nello storico impianto Appiano, vinse Zurich Inneoin sia nella sezione maschile che in quella femminile. A distanza di due anni Padova e il Padova Gaelic Football, si sono cimentati nuovamente con l’organizzazione di un evento di livello europeo, ampliando il numero di squadre coinvolte. Un avvenimento che ha certificato importanti 35
