Chief Dekmar has over 37 years of law enforcement experience, and has been
the Chief of the LaGrange, Georgia Police Department since 1995. Chief
Dekmar is a past President of the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police
(GACP) as well as having served on several other boards such as the
Georgia International Law Enforcement Exchange (GILEE), the Commission
on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA), the Georgia Peace
Officer Standards and Training Council (POST) and the Georgia Board of
Public Safety. He has a Master's Degree in Public Administration from Georgia
College and State University. The LaGrange Police Department has been a
state certified agency through the GACP since 1998 and has been a CALEA
certified agency since 1999.
During this same officer induction ceremony, Michael Caldwell, General
Counsel for the Georgia Association of
Chiefs of Police was inducted as the
Parliamentarian for the IACP. Caldwell is a
partner in the law offices of DeLong,
Caldwell, Bridgers, Fitzpatrick and Benjamin
in Atlanta, Georgia. Michael Caldwell has
over 40 years of legal experience and
received his J.D. from The Catholic University
of America, Columbus School of Law in
1971. Caldwell is an Adjunct Professor of
Human Resources Management and Law
at the Georgia Law Enforcement Command
College at Columbus State University and
instructing for the Georgia Association of
Chiefs of Police (GACP) at their esteemed
Chief Executive Training Programs.
