On Tuesday, October 24, 2017, Chief Lou Dekmar, of the LaGrange, Georgia Police
Department was sworn in as the President of the International Association of Chiefs of
Police (IACP). The IACP is the world's largest law enforcement leadership organization.
The IACP was founded in 1893 and has 30,000 members from 150 countries. Chief
Dekmar's innovated initiatives for the upcoming year include, International Trust Building
with individual funding sources one being a one-million-dollar grant from Michael
Jordan, a One Mind Campaign which seeks to ensure successful interactions between
police officers and persons affected by mental illness and initiatives to combat the Abuse
and Exploitation of At-Risk Adults.
