DIVERSITY CONTINUES TO GROW Duncan Area Economic Development Foundation (DAEDF), while it works to boost employment opportunities, also strives to diversify Stephens County’s economy. In the last year, DAEDF has brought in a few diff erent companies which will help diff erentiate the area’s economy, making it less gas and oil dependent. New employers in the area bring new types of work with them. Th at includes DR2, also known as Duncan Recycling and Refi ning, which is the fi rst recycling plant of its kind in the area. Dream Team Prosthetics has also opened the door further toward diversity, bringing clients in from all over the globe. Th e soon-to-be Kochendorfer Brewery also brings a new type of manufacturing and distribution to the area. Previously, DAEDF put together a “test” incubator in Duncan and by 2009, it was certifi ed as an offi cial business incubator. Numerous companies have partnered with DAEDF, fi nding success as they move out of the incubator and set up shop elsewhere. A new incubator will come to the area soon with a similar goal of helping business owners get started and furthering the mission of diversity for Stephens County.
