Page 9 T�l� M� � St�ry . . . It has been a year or so since my last missive for the Letter Log and I have to admit I missed talking with so many unique and fascinating club members. My favorite part of the Fort Walton Yacht Club is the people. Whether they are still out plying the waters aboard their current, lovely vessels or have “dropped anchor” and now enjoy the company of friends, each person has a memory or two of time spent aboard. Each memory is backed with a story, and those stories are what I think the Letter Log readership, as well as myself, would find interesting. So here is the pitch ... I am soliciting stories to write articles about in the coming months. I am hoping, along with our ever patient editor, that you are willing to share your story of time aboard, hairy, scary, funny or thrilling; big catch, small catch, the one that got away; successes and near misses; races won or lost, it’s up to you. If it created a memory, it’s probably worth sharing. So, if you are willing to spin a yarn, please contact me at: [email protected]. Pat Tye Jibin’ with the Juniors Fort Walton Beach High School Wins Silver at the Great Oaks Regatta The weekend of 22-24 November, three local high school sailing teams traveled to Southern Yacht Club to compete in blustery winds and big waves in The Great Oaks Invitational Regatta. Sailors from Choctaw, Niceville and Fort Walton Beach High Schools, all members of FWYC, had their endurance tested in winds that on Saturday were steady at 22 knots gusting to 25 and on Sunday were sustained at 18 with gusts of 22 knots.
