Q: Tell us a little about Tim Garrison.

A: I'm from the Los Angeles area (Lynwood to be exact); born and raised. I lived there until 1992. I attended Lynwood High School, Cerritos College, Rio Hondo College and Los Angeles Broadcasting in Hollywood. There were several reasons why I left Cali, but the main reason was to start my career in radio. Wow, it was really hard to leave home.

Q: We, along with many others, remember you back when you were hosting the Oasis. Elaborate a little on that.

A: Great times...Now called the good old days...lol. I started working at the Oasis in 2000, after working with V-100 in Dallas and ABC Radio Network/The Touch in North Dallas. Those jobs were part-time, so I also sold cars as well. It was tough, until a full-time opening came up at the Oasis for the 7pm to Midnight position. Determined to get that position, I found out who the PD was and came up with a story to get in to see her. I told the receptionist that the PD was expecting me. She called back to the PD and she came out to meet me. All I had was an aircheck and a huge smile on my face. We chatted and it was about 3 months before I got the news that I got the job. That's when the name Tim Garrison became a household name in the Smooth Jazz family of DFW.

I stayed with the station for 8 years until the station changed formats and then we all were let go. I really miss those times.

Q: What was your motivation to get started in the radio industry?

A: During my high school days, for some reason the school would always have me to speak during assemblies. There was one event, at school, I spoke at and a speech teacher came to me at the end of the event and asked me what were my endeavors? I replied, "I am going to
