Future Me! | Page 92

My favorite profession At some point in life, all people start dreaming about future job. Some start dreaming at a very young age, inspired by books, movies, role models, about becoming astronauts, scientists, firefighters. Sadly, most of them start deciding other jobs in school, while abandoning their dreams. I don’t want to abandon my dreams, and so I want to work in fashion industry. It is my goal. As I’m still really young, it’s really hard for me to decide on future job just yet. Even if I know that I want to be in fashion industry, there are many options to choose from, from internet bloggers to designs’ critics. The variety of jobs is enormous, but I am thinking about becoming a designer or a fashion magazine’s writer. Many people think of designers only as people with strange sense of art, with strict mind of how people’s bodies should look like, think of them as people, guilty of many girls around the world living with eating disorders. But that’s not true, or, at least, not entirely true. Designers are hard working people, who are trying really hard to get attention for their works. These times it’s really hard to get recognition for designers, when there are already many well-known brands, such as “Chanel”, “Lois Vuitton”, “Jeffrey Campbell”, etc., that are popular now only because they made their entrance centuries ago. Even if it’s really hard to be a designer, I still want to know the feelings when your masterpieces get praises, when you can see ordinary people dressed with your works. If I choose to become writer, I hope to work in a world-wide known fashion magazine, like “Elle”, “Vogue”, “Seventeen” or “L’Officiel”. I think this job would suit me, because I like communicating to people via writings, I like fashion and I would love to get recognition from people with the same interests as me. Of course, this job isn’t only all about watching fashion shows, commenting designers’ works or casually sipping coffee in New York, one of fashion’s centres. It’s hard enough to get inspiration for writing; it’s even harder to write in given time with all that rivalry in fashion industry. It’s a job that needs hard-working, strong people. Fashion industry is big and hard to get into. I’ll work hard to fulfill my dreams, even if I still can’t decide on only one profession yet.
