I interviewed Birgitta Kekäläinen about catering chef’s profession. Catering chef’s profession belongs to make good, nutritious and healthy food, container service and kitchen sanitation. Birgitta makes her work in Health centers kitchen. Food is prepared for Health center’s patients, clinical staff, as well as nursing home and home care customers. If you want to be catering chef, you have to apply to the University of Applied Sciences and choose catering chef’s education line. Studying takes about three years. The average monthly salary of the profession is about 2200€. Working days last 7h-8,5h. Working during period 5.30-18.30 and also in weekends. Birgitta chose this profession, because she was interested about making food. She says that good things in this profession are of course cooking and nice colleagues.
