hool: Y T I L A VERSUS RE that would ensue during lunch and the limited time we would have for lunchtimes. The reality is far from this. -I still can’t get over the multiple meal options and they are all delicious!!! LESSONS: I expected lots of lessons and yes this is one expectation that is reality, but this is necessary given the amount of information we need to learn. My primary school lessons started to be easy for me and now at secondary school the lessons are more challenging and stretching. HOMEWORK: I was worried about the amount of homework and that the punishment for not completing it would be awful - maybe two hours of detention after school. The reality is that I get on average two pieces of homework a day and each should take less than 30 mins to complete. Failing to hand in homework is not a crime either… A friend forgot to do her maths homework and was simply asked to get it in the following week! DETENTION: We never had ‘detention’ at my lovely primary school. So that word sent shivers down my spine. In theory, detention is only five to twenty minutes (not hours), although My school pr om! I haven’t tested out that policy yet and don’t intend to..! IN SUMMARY My experience at secondary school has exceeded my expectations. Furthermore, in the future I expect that I will have a good time there and learn lots. THINKING POINT Have you noticed how the things we worry about often don’t actually happen? And wh at about the perfect party that’s actually a disappoin tment? We can never totally know what lies ahead, so how about we relax our breathing and gratefully enjoy what we have right now? FUSE 15
