iARTS & iWORLD Interview by Ruby D Dear World, How Are You? In March 2016, Toby released a book compilation of many of the letters he has written, and many of the responses he has received, too. It is called ‘Dear World, How Are You?’ and it also shows a range of pictures. He is writing so many letters per week that I wondered if there was to be another book. Toby: Everyone at school has been asking me the same question! I don’t think there’ll be another book, unless someone asks me to do one. I might do another collection of my letters, but maybe not as a book. Toby enjoys setting himself challenges with his letters. In April he aimed to write 100 letters -and succeeded. He could not wait to get to 1,000 letters although letter 934 will always be a special one as Toby sent it to author J.K Rowling. He thought this was a great number as 9¾ is the platform for the Hogwarts Express in the Harry Potter series! 10 FUSE I was curious to find out about any other aspects of his experience that stood out. Toby: When I sent a letter to astronaut Chris Hadfield, he sent a letter back 26 months later, so he holds the record for the longest time to reply! I also sent a letter to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, but the reply is very confidential. I am sure many FUSE readers would be interested in a career in the British media industry, so I asked Toby if he had any tips or tricks on making sure you deliver your best performance. Toby: When you are on stage or in front of the camera, try not to act too shy. Try and be confident and you’ll feel great. And just do your best! Of course, these points don’t just help when on TV, but can be applied to any kind of presentation or display. Like Toby says, just do your best and don’t be shy.
