an✸absence✸of✸light.✸At✸first✸Persephone✸
didn’t✸want✸to✸be✸there✸and✸she✸frequently✸
craved✸the✸beguiling✸perfume✸of✸her✸
favourite✸flowers...oft✸en✸the✸narcissus;✸
that✸delicate✸blossom✸planted✸above✸the✸
crevice✸that✸she✸had✸stopped✸to✸gather✸
and✸caused✸Hades✸to✸notice✸her.
But✸Demeter’s✸daughter✸was✸courageous.✸
In✸the✸Underworld’s✸gloom,✸she✸learnt✸
to✸appease✸her✸heart✸that✸craved✸the✸
glowing✸colours✸of✸summer.✸She✸vowed✸
not✸to✸suff✸er✸or✸let✸Hades✸dictate✸her✸entire✸
actions.✸Her✸hands,✸icy✸to✸the✸touch✸there,✸
she✸nevertheless✸reached✸out✸to✸the✸poor✸
