In this issue we have been focusing on Geology, and we have plenty of videos, websites, apps and articles for you to sink your teeth into – we hope you find it as fascinating as we have! News from Potential Plus UK Jamie Edwards, A 13-year-old boy from Preston has become the youngest person ever to successfully carry out atomic fusion – he built a nuclear reactor and successfully smashed two hydrogen atoms together, creating helium through nuclear fusion. The winter’s extreme weather has led to about seven years’ worth of erosion at the cliffs at Birling Gap in East Sussex since January – a part of the cliff has collapsed and fallen into the sea. See footage here. News from Potential Plus UK All the team at Potential Plus UK had a fabulous time on the 15th and 16th February at our BIG Family Weekend in Bedford. We saw lots of familiar faces, and plenty of new ones too! You participated in all sorts of fun activities including Catapult Challenge, Scratch Computer Coding, Prehistoric Survival and the Science of Fireworks and Atomic Biscuits! We were then all entertained at the evening meal by Fusers themselves, with wonderful musical performances, kickboxing routines, ballet performances and poem recitals, you really are a talented bunch! Coming up over the summer we will be having our outwardbound event, the BIG Adventure Weekend, at PGL Liddington on the 4-6th July. Book now to come along and participate in a full weekend of outdoor activities! On Friday 7th March, a Malaysian Airlines flight MH370 disappeared off tracking systems when flying from the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur to Beijing, China. Dozens of ships and planes from 9 different countries are currently searching for the plane. Britain has won its first ever gold medal at Winter Paralympic Games! Anxiety Anxiety is an unpleasant feeling of uneasiness, fear or worry. It is normal to feel tense or scared when facing a challenging or dangerous situation, but anxiety becomes a problem when it is constant and when fears and worries are getting in the way of your every day activities and friendships and preventing you from enjoying yourself. Lots of people experience anxiety, but there are is a wide range of support to help you! Reach out to your family or friends if you feel nervous or worried – they love you and want to help you to be as happy as you can be! Find things that make you feel relaxed – this might be listening to music, drawing, reading or anything you enjoy. When you feel nervous or worried take some time to do these relaxing things, to help you get back on track!
