SPACE TWIN!
NA SA /Robert Ma
In a real-life 'Space Age' story, Scott
Kelly and Mark Kelly are identical twins...
and both of them are astronauts!
In March 2015, Scott blasted off to spend
a whole year in the International Space
Station, while Mark stayed on Earth living his
usual life in the United States. Both twins will
be closely watched by scientists at NASA, the
National Aeronautics and Space Administration.
hopefully help to protect astronauts on
future deep space exploration missions,
including travel to asteroids and Mars.
The Twin Study hopes to change future space
travel and focuses on 10 areas that monitor their
bodies and minds. Since the DNA of identical twins
is a genetic match, it will be fascinating to watch
NASA's research reveal how we function in space
compared to on Earth. This information will
According to Albert Einstein's
Theory of Relativity, Scott should
return to Earth 'younger' than
his brother! Will this prove to be
science fact or science fiction?!
LASER FUN FACTS
'LASER' stands for: Light Amplification by Stimulated
Emission of Radiation.
The very first laser was built in 1960. It only took
about 50 years for its narrow beam of light to become
essential to modern ICT equipment such as optical
disk drives, printers and barcode scanners. Lasers are
also very important everywhere from the Military to
surgical hospitals -and rock concert lighting displays!
But how about this cool use for a laser that is now
being developed? ...To vaporise Space Junk! WOW.
