Mylon’s ‘Discobolus’ sculpture from around 2,500 ago looks like it was created to show off the athletic strength of the ‘discus thrower’. In some ways it is like a very early advertisement! These days we have computer software to help us create modern advertisements and images like this one for a tennis tournament – maybe even Wimbledon! As recently as the last ten years or so, Digital Cameras have become widely available. This has made it easy for us to take high quality photos and to zoom in or add interesting effects. in our modern 'cave' creating art? Perhaps just using cartoon software or a freehand graphics tablet instead of dried mud? An interesting thought.
