All diesel good – all diesel bad. The pendulum swings and
sure enough we discover that neither extreme is correct.
Indeed, recent good news about diesel includes the
following stories on greenhouse and tail pipe emissions.
Biodiesel producer and blender, ARGENT ENERGY
has recently been in the news for converting sewage fats
– fatbergs – into biodiesel – as well as sweeter smelling
coffee bean waste.
It turns out that not only are Euro VI engines
emissions around 98% better than Euro V, but retrofitting
older engines has an even greater effect. So, the
government is putting £40 million into doing just that.

Meeting the UK’s energy needs – a multi-
million pound investment is continuing
to ensure that the Stanlow Refinery
will remain a key national asset
During the first quarter of 2018 ESSAR OIL UK has
continued its latest multi-million pound investment
programme ensuring that the Stanlow Refinery will remain
a key national asset in meeting the UK’s ongoing energy
needs.
Coming out of a relatively cold winter, fuel distributors
large and small have enjoyed an increase in demand,
providing a welcome boost in what remains a challenging
market. The key requirements to fulfil those orders has
always been consistent availability, access to high quality
products and the ability to load product quickly and safely.
Currently supplying 16% of the nation’s road
transport fuel demand, Stanlow has proven to be a
terminal Essar’s customers can rely on, backed up by
locally-based support teams.

In 2017 GREENERGY acquired Inver Energy, giving it a significant presence in the Irish market. Through Inver, Greenergy now supplies petrol,
diesel, aviation fuel and heating oil to commercial and retail customers in Ireland, importing products through the Foynes terminal on the west
coast of Ireland.
In a further expansion, road-loading of diesel and heating oil commenced at Thames Oilport in the South East of England, giving
Greenergy a new and strategically important supply location in this busy region.
With nine owned or stock-managed terminals on the Thames, Teesside, Clydebank, Cardiff and Plymouth, Greenergy remains the UK’s only
national fuel supplier.
This import capability, replicated at Foynes, means that Greenergy can source from the best global producers and control its own supply
chain, so it is best placed to deliver supply resilience for customers.
