“Thank you for helping me get through
rough times and for helping me see how
tenacious I can be. Thank you for helping
me discover the math world and thank
you for helping me find myself.”
I
— Student, 2013–14
became an educator because I believed that
teaching was a place where I could make
a difference in the lives of young adults.
When I was very young I developed a deep love
for learning, and in high school I fell in love
with the language of mathematics. Teaching
was an opportunity to share my passion for
learning in a way that might also be a gift to
students. Thirty-two years later I still believe
that I could not have made a better career
choice.
