Friendship across Cultures Vol. 1 | Page 51

This has great advantages, as for example:

- learning about our friend’s country: its gastronomy, its customs, etc.;

- getting to know the differences between our country and our friend’s country.

And it is definitely better to know our friend's country through his/her descriptions and photos than to use the internet to do the research. This way it’s more fun and also more engaging.

But to have a friendship with a person from another country, we need to communicate with them and there are many ways to do it. There might be some problems, as different time zones or different access to internet, but when we really want something we can always overcome obstacles.

How to make friendships between different cultures? a) We can use social media as a starting point, because we can find people who share similar tastes and interests, but we must not only join the group, but have an active participation! You can introduce yourself to the group and explain that you want to have new friends .
b) We can participate in school projects like this one, it is very useful and we learn a lot !

Friendship is an affective relationship between two or more people but we always think about people who live close to each other, that is, who live in the same city or in the same country but it is very good to have a friendship with someone who lives in a country with a culture different from ours.

In our opinion, this project was really great and we loved participating because we made new friends, which is always good, so we think all schools should do these kind of projects, because we are all different and have our own culture and this way we learn more about other countries and their culture!!

We thank our teachers for giving us the opportunity to meet new people and new cultures !!
