Friendship across Cultures Vol. 1 | Page 45

It definitely enriched our lives!

Friendship is a relationship of mutual affection between people and a strong and everlasting bond. If those friends are from different cultures, even better! Besides having someone to talk with, we can learn new and different customs, traditions and ways of thinking.

Talking with someone who lives far from us, in such different countries as Morocco and Portugal, is an amazing and enriching experience.

With this project we learnt a lot about each country. Now, we know more about the geography, the history, the religion, the food and the traditions of Portugal and Morocco.
This project was a great challenge and an encounter between young people from different cultural backgrounds. There were no misunderstandings and the result was a great intercultural communication.

Sharing different cultural aspects has been great: now we can understand some Catholic traditions like the Christmas tree and Christmas Eve or the custom of wearing the long Moroccan djellaba. Now we feel we are more aware of the differences, but also similarities, between our countries and we are able to respect them.

So, we may say that this project not only allowed teenagers to know each other, but also helped them to increase their knowledge of the world.
