June Rose ‘ The Alnwick Rose ’
We have a generous selection of enjoyable roses within our Rose Garden all with the fragrance of summer . Our favourite has to be The Alnwick Rose named after our garden . This shrub rose is great for mixed borders and informal planting as well as in a formal rose garden . The rose is healthy and will repeat flower throughout the summer . Over a hundred varieties can be found in The Plant Centre so there is a variety for any taste .

Eremurus bungeii
Found around the viewpoint at the top of the cascade our Foxtail Lilies provide a striking display of tall spikes with hundreds of golden yellow flowers . This perennial makes an excellent cut flower and suits a hot border on a sunny site . Due to its popularity in the garden these plants can now be found in the Plant
Centre , along with another cultivar named ‘ Cleopatra ’ which is a peachy orange colour .

Lobelia cardinalis ‘ Queen Victoria ’
Outstanding vibrant spikes of red flowers populate the stems of the cardinal flower at this time of year . Standing up to 3 feet tall above reddened foliage , which is attractive in itself . Excellent as an individual or planted on mass , in a mixed border , a bog garden or marginal by a pond , as it thrives in wetter soils , as well as a long lasting cut flower . Look out for this one outside the gardener ’ s cottage or within the Plant Centre .
The Plant Centre
The Plant Centre is open everyday for plants if you wish to take part of The Alnwick Garden home with you . As always there will be no garden ticket required for entry . Here we showcase the finest plants from our own nursery , grown sustainably using low peat compost . We will also have plenty of roses , climbers and alpines from other suppliers including David Austin Roses and Kevock Garden Plants , who sell rare plants from around the world .
