£ Event founder Daice Suzuki going big in the snowy mountains of Niigata FlyNight on Snow, Niigata 2015 2 015 MARKS THE 10TH anniversary of the FlyNight on Snow event, which is held in Niigata, Japan. In 2005, the first year the event took place, a large earthquake struck the Niigata prefecture, making life difficult for the residents of the mainly rural region. So, in an attempt to bring some energy back into the local community, Japanese FMX rider Daisuke “Daice” Suzuki decided to start the FlyNight on Snow event. Daice says: “All us FMX riders can do, is jump for the people and hope our efforts bring smiles to the faces of those able to come out and enjoy the event.” Over the last 10 years the event has grown to include many different performers, and even has the backing of the local governing body. And with their cooperation, Daice and the other FMX riders hope this event continues to grow, and continues to bring smiles to the local community.
