C
LINTON MOORE
BROUGHT HOME
his first ever Red Bull
X-Fighters victory at the
opening round of the
2015 world tour in Mexico City. Clinton
has had six previous starts in the Red
Bull X-Fighters, but for one reason or
another has never managed to make
it past the quarter finals. The Aussie
has always shown huge amounts of
potential, and is known for having a big
bag of particularly insane tricks. This
year he managed to put all his biggest
tricks like the Bundy, Body Varial,
Tsunami Flip and Flair into one of the
most banger filled runs in FMX history.
A lot of people had Clinton picked as a
future X-Fighters winner, and in Mexico
City he finally proved those people
right. Here’s how he did it…
So Clinton, how did you spend
your time preparing for X-Fighters
Mexico City?
I didn’t actually have too much time
coming into this event. I had about two
and a half weeks to focus on Mexico
City. Last year I had these tricks but
they weren’t fully on lockdown. In the
two weeks I had coming into this year’s
contest, I specifically concentrated
on the Flair and the Bundy. I singled
out the other tricks I wanted to do in
Mexico and just practiced them every
morning and every afternoon with no
pressure. I didn’t really have a plan for
anything new, I just wanted to come
out here and throw a solid run down
like everyone’s been telling me to.
When you first landed in Mexico how
did you spend your time? Was there
a lot of media work to do?
Yeah there’s always a lot to do at the
first X-Fighters round of the season.
There’s so much media and TV stuff
that they have organised as soon as
you arrive. So I was super busy with
that, but I enjoy it, you know. It’s good
experience for me, and it’s just part of
being a professional athlete nowadays.
You’ve just got to get it done and then
focus on the task at hand.
Once that was all wrapped up it was
time for course testing, and Levi
Sherwood threw down a big new
trick right off the bat. Did you feel
any extra pressure after that?
I knew Levi had a new trick and I knew
