A proper homegrown
British hero
D
DANNY
HART
espite multiple
World Cup wins and
two World Championship
titles, Danny is one of
the quietest and least
in-your-face men you’ll meet on the
circuit. He loves time at home in the
North East England, weekends in the
camper van with his girlfriend Sophia
(herself a talented MX and MTB rider)
or laps of his newly-bought bike park.
But don’t mistake any of that as Danny
lacking something. On two wheels
Danny Hart is lightning. Brutally fast,
talented, stylish and full of charisma on
track. Fast enough to win the highest
title in downhill, World Champs, on
two occasions. Grab him for a quiet
chat and he’s the same - funny, sharp,
self-critical and very happy to tell you
exactly what’s on his mind. A proper,
home-grown British hero and every bit
deserving of the success he’s earned.
We joined Danny and Sophia for a
cuppa and a chat on the eve of British
National Champs…
So, Danny Hart, for anyone that
doesn’t know who you are. Who are
you?
I’m Danny Hart. I race pushbikes for
a living. I don’t ride skate parks and I
don’t do big stunts on motorcycles!
There you go. And what are your big
achievements so far in your career?
I’ve been World Champion on
two occasions. I’m current World
Champion. I also won the National
Champs once. I was second overall in
the World Cup last year too.
How would you describe your
personality?

A boring bastard? I’m pretty dry and
could be classed as pretty boring...
but I don’t care. I just enjoy riding
my bike. I’m not one of them bros,
you know what I mean? I’m just a
lad from Redcar. I guess it’s how I’ve
been brought up. Just grounded and
humble. I just ride bikes, it’s still fun for
me and still a good time.
Where did it all start?
I’ve been on two wheels since day
one. My Dad’s always been on two
wheels so I guess it just came from
him. I raced BMX and did a little bit
of motocross when I was really young
and naturally progressed into racing
downhill mountain bikes. u
