You just recently released your
autobiography. Were you involved
heavily in that on the actual writing
side?
Yeah, it was ghost-written so I sort
of told my whole life story to Ted
McCauley and then he wrote the
story. It’s a bit of a strange one to
write an autobiography, but it seems
to be selling really well. I’ve had great
response from it.
I think what kind of pushed me into
doing it was the amount of people
that tried to contact me through social
media about injuries they’ve had from
racing, or even road riding. Wanting to
know how I went through what I went
through and how I came back from it.
To be able to tell that story in the book
and then obviously my racing story, it
was worth doing.
That’s an interesting one because
I’ve noticed a lot of people,
whenever they have leg injuries
now the first thing you hear is ‘best
contact Hutchy’. You’ve been an
inspiration for so many people
coming through similar injuries.
They have seen you come back
from the depths of despair to have a
full and successful career.
Yeah, I think if anybody racing has
anything like the kind of injuries I
went through - If they don’t think it
themselves - somebody will say to
them, don’t give up, because look
what I did. I think it’s good that it
helps people try and keep focused
and believe that they can come back
from it. t
