A brief history of hooning: Gymkhana through the years [2006] Gymkhana One “Ken Block’s Gymkhana Practice” The one that started it all. Gym One was definitely a first step but established the style and attitude that would carry the series. Directed by Josh Martelli, the action saw Ken exercising the power and precision of his 2005 Subaru Impreza WRX STI. [2009] Gymkhana Two “The Infomercial” Three years after the original, the same team plus a few new recruits attempted to recapture the success of round one. They needn’t have worried, as Ken and his updated 2008 Impreza laid down what many die-hards still consider the definitive Gymkhana. [2010] Gymkhana Three “Ultimate Playground: L’autodrome, France” The departure of the Scooby was bemoaned by many fans but the arrival of Ford, alongside several other high-profile sponsors, allowed the series to push on with production values and execution to match the enthusiasm and creativity thrown in by the team.
