MONSTER ENERGY CUP
WHO’S NEXT?
£ MEC wouldn’t be
the same without an
appearance from RV2
Coming to a Monster Pro Circuit semi
near you soon is Austin Forkner. The
next fast kid dominated both motos
in the amateur all-star race, setting
lap times on his 250F that were
competitive with the big dogs. Lance
Kobusch also rode great and swept the
super-mini class to take a convincing
victory. Both riders run Kawasakis,
both are from Missouri, but moreover,
they both showed us something very
special in Vegas.
The Monster Energy Cup is a night
of racing that the riders can enjoy
without worrying too much about how
they do. It’s a great time to test some
new parts, make a bit of money and
have some fun. After this the riders
go into hibernation until Anaheim and
the race is usually forgotten pretty
quickly. The uniqueness of the event
and the imaginative track features,
however, seem to stick in the mind of
the riders, event organisers and fans
alike. So keep your eyes peeled, as
soon enough some of these popular
MEC features will become a regular
occurrence at a stadium near you. T

As we said, taking momentum from
a race in October for Anaheim 1 in
January is tough to do, so it wouldn’t
be fair to make too many predictions
for 2016 at this point. The Monster
Cup means everything when you do
well and nothing when you don’t meet
expectations.
