£ Australia’s Jarryd McNeil took down the Dirt Shark Biggest Whip comp for the second year in a row. WHAT ELSE? Honda’s Trey Canard was very fast but crashed in two of the three mains, which set him back a bit. Canard qualified fastest, consistently had the best lap times and deserved better. “It’s always good to know you have the speed,” lamented the Okie after the race. No trophies for Canard but lots of respect. Red Bull KTM’s Ryan Dungey did something different by taking some serious time off the bike leading up to the race, but ended up with the same result (second) for the fourth time at the MEC. “Considering the off-season downtime and then just three weeks back on the bike, I’m happy with the way things are moving,” he s ays. © MONSTER ENERGY “You can call it a supercross track, but it’s not a supercross track,” said Dungey after the race. “It’s got more of a motocross mixture in it with features like fast turns. Supercross is a bunch of 90’s and 180’s, and most of the time you got those rhythms and whoops. All these things are missing from here.” And so far, a win is also missing for the reigning 450SX champion. “It’s a good place to see where we’re at and make a little progress. It’s not supercross, but it’s good to go racing and keep that feel going. The 2014 champion, Davi Millsaps, was now on orange (BTOSports KTM team) and with a big shimmering gold number one plate, logged some decent results. It’s been a while since we have seen ‘The Duke’ on a supercross track and although he lost the number one plate, he did put in a nice showing. © HONDA RACING CORPORATION Now it’s another two months until we race again at Anaheim 1, but we’ll use this to build on. We will work on both my physical and mental side, as well as bike preparation.”
