The curious case of Jorge Lorenzo £ Lorenzo drew criticism after Sepang for suggesting Rossi escaped further punishment ‘because of his name’ Jorge had the opportunity to come out of the whole saga the real winner - he just had to keep shtum © MILAGRO Handled correctly, Jorge had an opportunity to come out of the whole saga a real winner. He simply had to remain shtum. His dehydrated and fatigued decision to immediately get involved in the aftermath of the Sepang clash was a big mistake on his part. He surely hadn’t been able to view the whole situation given the timescale, but perhaps the constant booing (even before the race began) had a bearing on that decision. Lorenzo is a born and bred racer, or as described by someone who works with him; ‘a killing machine, he knows no other way’. An opportunity was there to gain on his rival for the world title, should race direction enforce a penalty, so he pounced on that. Tact, dignity and sportsmanship didn’t immediately spring to Jorge’s mind that afternoon; he smelt blood and got involved in a fight that wasn’t his.
