MX vs. ATV Supercross Encore
has seen a HUGE improvement
on the 2014 ‘Supercross’ edition,
as the super-popular moto game
returns to PC and moves onto the
PS4 (with an Xbox One version
on the way).
accounts of the challenges, risks and
sacrifices the guys at the top of the sport
make every time they go out on the track.
We also get a glimpse at the immense
glory than can be achieved when it all
comes together.
Die-hard MotoGP fans might struggle
with some parts of this film, as it has a
tendancy to state the obvious for people
who watch the racing every weekend.
On the other hand, this means you don’t
have to have worked in a MotoGP garage
or be a member of the official Valentino
Rossi fan-club to follow the film and
get the most out of it. And that’s not to
say core MotoGP fans won’t enjoy the
experience; the eye-popping HD slowmotion shots and behind-the-scenes
interviews provide more than enough eye
candy and interesting insights for even
the biggest superbike fans. Perfect for
the whole family, ‘Hitting the Apex’ is an
interesting, entertaining and emotional
look into the hectic, rollercoaster world
that is the MotoGP and we urge everyone
to check it out. T

The first major improvement is
the re-addition of some classic
MX vs. ATV disciplines, such as
Freeride and Nationals, bringing
the total amount of tracks and
landscapes available to around
30 (be aware the SX tracks
are all taken from the previous
‘Supercross’ version). But the real excitement
lies in the all-new Straight Rhythm racing. With users
now able to enter a full career mode with around 8
tracks based on the Red Bull Straight Rhythm, MX
vs ATV just got a whole lot better! There are also
some awesome 50cc bikes available for anyone who
doesn’t want to take the racing too seriously.
As far as the racing itself is concerned, big
improvements have been made to the MX riders’
style and body movements for Encore. The
developers have also made massive steps in the
Whip and Scrub territory and both moves are now
a lot smoother, consistent and way more fun! New
2016 kits, including the latest Fox and Shift models,
make racing a whole lot easier on the eye too.
But even though the game has made all these
awesome improvements, prepare to have your
experience tarnished by what is possibly the most
annoying piece of development in the history of
gaming. Just as you hit the big finish-line jump in
first place and start to throw your victory Whip, a
huge trophy and chequered flags fill the screen in
front of your rider, and don’t disappear until you’ve
landed. Not cool!!!
Multiplayer modes are all awesome, with a good
local split-screen option, as well as having the
opportunity to line up with up to 12 of your mates
online! If you own a PS4, we highly recommend
you grab yourself a copy of MX vs. ATV Supercross
Encore and get racing.
And no, we didn’t test any ATVs! T
