We’re not yet at the point where social media overtakes the
website, the most basic form of existence on the internet – but
we’re well on our way. In the future, your social media presence
will mean much more than your website. It’ll be more efficient
to publish stories, to promote products, to sell services directly
on social media platforms than to make a link to a website and
promote that on social media.

In just a short period, social media has managed to become
the most interesting outcome of living online. Much like a city
needs squares and plazas and parks, social media platforms
have emerged as the digital public spaces where people gather
and exchange parts of themselves. Users traded the isolation
of the search-based web for existing for social interaction with
one another. I can’t wait to see where we go from here.
