According to the press release, “The results of the experiment showed a significant change in the chemical composition of the fragrance produced by the “Overnight Scentsation” rose plant in the environment of microgravity. The change in proportion of the aroma production molecules created a notable, but pleasant difference in the fragrance.” The scent was later commercialized. Back on earth, Subha is now in charge of the IFF Botanical Gardens she helped to create, which houses the largest collection of scented orchids in the world. After many years in the business, she has not lost her sense of wonder at the majesty of the natural world – in fact, it has increased. This wonder serves her well. She approaches each new project as if it was her first, but bolstered with the extraordinary experience she’s gained over the years. “Over the years, I have learned that all the experiences and lessons we (humans) have had and learned -- nature already knows them. Every day, walking through to the IFF Botanical Gardens, I learn, see or experience something new.
