Excessive belt tension is known to lead to premature failure of the water pump bearings. If the cooling system is not properly flushed during repair or if existing problems are not rectified, it can also lead to premature water pump failure. STEPS TO A GOOD FIT Before installation, it is important to ensure that the cooling system is cleaned well. When draining and flushing the cooling system thoroughly, the water pump cavity should be inspected to ensure that it is free from debris. After removing the old pump, the gasket mating surfaces should also be cleaned. Following that, check the condition of all associated components and replace where necessary before installing the new pump – it is strongly advised that th
