NEWSDESK What’s new from the market ARNOTT AIR SUSPENSION More new vehicle models are now being equipped with air suspension instead of traditional coil springs. To match the growing interest, Arnott air suspension components are now available from FPS via same/next- day delivery. Contrary to popular belief, air springs do not last the lifetime of the vehicle. The average service lifespan of air suspension stands at 6 to 10 years due to the degradation of rubber components. This creates excellent sales opportunities for motor factors. The range of 43 parts includes air struts, suspension compressors and springs. This will give motor factors the opportunity to provide the aftermarket with a range that was previously available through dealerships only. All Arnott units are pre-assembled and compatible with OE plugs, connectors and air lines for easy, plug-and-play replacement for garages. To help ensure that best replacement procedures are observed, each unit comes with detailed instructions. Application highlights: • A-2642, for BMW X5 (2007-2013) and BMW X6 (2009-2017) • A-2780, for BMW 5 Series (2010-2017) For more specific instructions, installers can simply search for “Arnott” on www.partinfo.co.uk to locate the library of installation videos and fitting instructions. NÜRAL ECOTOUGH PISTONS The Nüral EcoTough ® piston coating is designed to help reduce fuel consumption, improve longevity of performance and in turn, minimises the environmental impact. Created for high output petrol engines, Nüral EcoTough ® pistons provide a major reduction in wear on the piston surfaces in contact with the cylinder, due to their higher scuffing resistance. Extensive tests confirm a reduction of piston friction in the range of 10 to 18%. Fuel economy benefit of up to 0.8% in normal driving conditions, compared to conventional piston coatings. The drive to decrease CO 2 emissions and fuel consumption makes the reduction of parasitic friction losses between the piston and the cylinder bore a priority for vehicle manufacturers. At the same time, the power output per litre of engine displacement is increasing as engines are downsized and boosted, subjecting pistons to higher mechanical and thermal loads. Nüral meets these challenges with a coating technology based on an advanced formulation of solid lubricants, including graphite, molybdenum disulphide (MoS 2 ) and carbon fibre.
