WINTER MOTORING HACKS One does not need to be driven up the wall because they did not brace for winter. One just needs to have a few simple items and the know-how to keep the winter “frostrations” at bay at a pinch. HAND SANITISING GEL FREEZER BAGS CLEAR NAIL POLISH Rubbing a small squirt of hand sanitiser onto the door handle to thaw the frost swiftly in order to open the car door. Putting freezer bags on wing mirrors the night before will help avoid frosty mirrors in the morning. Just be sure to secure them with a rubber band. Avoid rust on chips and scratches of paintwork by applying a coat of clear nail polish. 20p Road legal tyres are non-negotiable, especially during winter. Treads should be 1.6mm deep to be road safe. Do away with the guess work at home with the 20p tyre test. Place the 20p flat in one of the grooves of the tread. The tread should cover the inner outline of the coin. If the outline can be seen, the tyres are due for a change. VITAL NEWS ISSUE 48 Why get caught off guard? Ensure that you are well covered over the winter.
