International Finalists Kathleen Champ Kathleen joined FPS in Year 7 and was first successful as a 3rd placed scenario writer. After working in several different teams, she joined a winning combination in 2004. At IC in 2005 her team performed well, just missing a top placing. After this, Kate, as she preferred to be called, was keen to try again, so on return from America she entered the national individual GIPS competition and won the Senior Division. In 2006 at IC Kate won this same division and the school hailed her as a “world champ”. It wasn’t just winning. The whole experience was wonderful —particularly meeting and listening to ideas from students from so many other countries . She continued to evaluate at national level for some years including at the 2007 finals in Perth. 2007 2006 Colorado Colorado (Fort Collins) (Fort Collins) Kathleen (Kate) Champ Alyssa Robinson Danielle Le Large 1st Senior Individual GIPS 2nd Middle Scenario 2nd Senior Ind GIPS 4th Middle Ind GIPS FPS was a major highlight of high school for me and it gave me opportunities to travel interstate and overseas.
