Disassembly begins by removing the two retracting springs from the post. Tim Clingler, restoration specialist at Orlando Mustang, uses an old Craftsman brake tool. Vise grips and stout pliers have also been known to work. FACTORY DRUM BRAKE DIAGRAM Even experienced mechanics will be ahead of the game by disassembling only one side at a time. Leave the other side intact in case you need to refer to it for reassembly. It’s also a good idea to take a couple of pictures of each side before you pull it all apart.
