5: If you’re running the #4FA218-040L and
higher supercharger kits, MSD’s 6-BTM (Boost
Timing Master) is a must to protect your engine
from detonation damage. The one thing you do
not want at wide-open throttle and high boost
is a misfire. The MSD 6-BTM is a multispark
capacitive discharge ignition control system
designed to keep the fires lit at high rpm. It
retards ignition timing 1-3 degrees per each
pound of boost to a maximum of 15 pounds
and is engineered to function up to 15,000
rpm. The MSD 6-BTM effectively eliminates
detonation (spark knock or pinging) because
you can manually dial down ignition timing from
your driver’s seat. There’s also a rev-limiter.
