SHOW C OV E R AG E & E V E N T S >>>> EVENTS/ FOXTOBERFEST 201 1 We expected maybe 20-25 cars. At last count, we had 62 cars on hand, requiring a second and third run to Domino’s. The first-annual gathering of Fox Mustangs in the Carolinas 20 FOXMustangMagazine.com I n Locust, North Carolina, not far from Charlotte, Fox Mustangs from the Piedmont region and beyond were invited to attend a unique gettogether. It was the first time that Matt Highley and crew from Fox Mustang Restoration hosted such a Fox-only event. At Foxtoberfest 2011, Fox-body Mustangs were the only cars on display. All other vehicles, even a ’12 Grabber Blue Mustang, were sent to an alternate parking lot. The all-Fox event started early Saturday morning, October 22, as a pack of Foxes came roaring over the hill and began to fill the parking lot. Troy Raby, moderator for the website SouthEasternFoxBodies.com, talked up the event and rallied the forum members to attend as part of their local monthly meet. He says the event was a huge success with “unbelievable weather, beautiful cars, and great people. To be there was fantastic!” More than 50 club members turned out with their Fox Mustangs. “It was great to be surrounded by people who love Foxbodies as much as we do,” Troy says. “We were surprised to meet people who had driven here from Georgia, South Carolina, and Virginia,” says Jennifer Highley, co-owner of Fox Mustang Restoration. The open-house event, which granted attendees full access to Fox Mustang Restoration’s parts supply, ran from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and included multiple giveaways, the largest of which was a full set of upholstery donated by TMI. Two lucky Fox owners won restoration parts that were later installed onto their cars during demonstrations led by Matt Highley, co-owner of FMR. A question-and-answer session followed the demonstrations. Due to the success of this event, Foxtoberfest 2012 is already being planned.
