in pairs. A highlight of the trials was Griffin
Logue making the A final in the single scull
and finishing seventh in Australia.
In preparation for the event, the crew
trained from the Curtin University Rowing

their considerable skills when competing
in the small boat classes and managed to
complete the demanding program of racing
in five 2000 metre races in a 48 hour period.
Western Australia finished in fourth place,
ahead of the South Australian crew. The
Victorian crew finished in first place followed
by Scotch College, who had their own school
VIII, with Queensland in third place.
After the eights race the boys competed in
other categories as part of the trials for the
Australian under-19 national team selection
process. The boys rowed with distinction in
all small boat classes, sculls, double sculls and
During their time in Sydney, the boys also
met senior national team rowers at a
barbeque hosted by the Haberfield Rowing
Club. In their down time they made the
obligatory trip to Bondi Beach where the
main challenge was to find the best buffet
dinner in Penrith!
