SLASSCOM CFO Forum on IFRS 15
SLASSOM Conclaves
SLASSCOM, as part of its CFO Forum initiative,
conducted a highly interactive practical session on
International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
15 which is vital today for Sri Lankan businesses.
SLASSCOM technology forum organizes bi-monthly
conclaves where companies share their best practices
among fellow IT professionals. The conclaves are open
only for SLASSCOM members and the audience are
the IT/Tech managers. During the period of January
to March, there were Two (2) conclaves organized
featuring best practices share by Dialog and Cake
Labs.
The event was held on 10 March at the CIDA
Auditorium from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., featuring
Manil Jayasinghe, Head of Assurance Practice and
Profession Practice Director for Ernst & Young Sri
Lanka. IFRS 15 provides accounting requirements for
all revenue arising from contracts with customers and
affects all entities that enter into contracts to provide
goods or services to their customers.
The event included insights into the 5 step model in
applying the principles of IFRS 15, top 3 revenue
recognition issues for the IT and services contracts (Is
the contract a revenue contract, how much of revenue
should be recognised, when should I recognise the
revenue), and also looked at practical examples.
SLASSOM Quality Circle
Quality forum of SLASSCOM organize monthly
Quality Circle which aims to share best practices
in the Quality Assurance, Quality Engineering and
process improvement.
In January, the Quality Circle was on Secret
Ingredients of Quality UX conducted by Rasika
Mahindasiri of 99X Technology. The second
programme was organized in January on Social
Media, Digital Evidence and Legal System conducted
by Dr. Prathiba Mahanamahewa. Thirdly in March
Lasantha Ranaweera of eBuilder conducted a
programme named Say No to “It Works in My
Machine”. The events were organized at Dialog
Axiata Auditorium and were well attended by over
200 participants.
Disrupt 2.0 Boot-Camp
Entrepreneurship forum of SLASSCOM organized a
boot camp focusing on 30 startups. The startups were
mentored by successful tech entrepreneurs of the IT
industry; Jeevan Gnanam, Mangala Karunaratne,
Dilendra Wimalasekere, Chandika Jayasundara and
Bhanuka Harischandra.
