o t e d n a o O R n e o i h t T ula m r Fo Wade was a good student, making sure he kept up with his meal plans and never giving up in the gym. When Tina announced to Wade that Lee Thompson, the organizer of the 2015 Formulation One competition, had added the Adaptive Category, Wade’s excitement could not be contained! This is was what he had been waiting for! Very grateful to Lee, Wade wanted to work even harder to represent the category and not let him down. Over the next months Tina and Wade trained daily in the gym, but it was more than just training it was transforming. BJ said it best, “He used to be the feet and I was the hands, in our relationship, now he is both!” While prepping for the competition Wade was able to straighten his back more than four inches! Additionally, his coordination got stronger and he was feeling less pain than ever before. Carl, Tina’s now husband, showed his support while attending Wade and Tina’s sessions in the gym and capturing these historic moments on video. His biggest question now is, “How do we get this positive experience out to the world?” As an actor and producer he is working on answering that question and shared with us there will be big news coming from “ Own the Room Entertainment”. However, even with Tina’s training and guidance, Wade knew there were other helping hands he would need if he were to be completely successful. Enter Wade’s dentist: Heather Willmore. Eating was a critical part of Wade’s preparation for the competition, but the increased amount of food made it hard on his fixed income. So during Wade’s prep Heather sponsored his meal plan and also ensured that he had transportation to and from the competition. By the time Wade hit the stage on October 17, there was a small village of support behind him. All of the effort, time, and work put in to getting Wade on that stage was truly rewarded by seeing him smiling (and flexing) with his first place medal. Even Tina teared up when they talked to us about that moment. “Most don’t realize what a huge deal this is. Not many know how amazing it is that he is even standing, let alone able to do what he has done.” she said. The big question now is, “what’s next for the first-time winner?” A lot, which Wade said he will share when the time is right. Until then he is back in the gym with Tina, training with the determination of one day going pro. - 28 -
