DO YOU MAINTAIN THE SAME DISCIPLINE AND ROUTINE AS YOU DID WHEN YOU WERE IN THE MILITARY ?
WHAT WOULD YOU TELL OTHER WOMEN WHO ARE INTERESTED IN GETTING INTO THE MILITARY ?
felt out of place and wanted to leave but my best friend wouldn ’ t let me . I actually don ’ t remember what happened on stage , it was all such a blur . I will never forget that feeling when the announcer called my name for first place , I felt tears in my eyes , and joy in my heart . All of the hard work and dedication paid off . I went on to compete 12 more times , winning 6 times . I was hooked but I couldn ’ t get over just how few resources there were to help someone prepare for a competition . Posing , expectations , costs , suits , tan , hair , makeup , photoshoots , modeling , portfolios , magazine submissions , networking , no help for any of this ! It was this experience that led me to launch Perfectly Prepared . I ’ ve now worked with hundreds of women , competitors , and fitness models . I have consulted for workout DVD ’ s , produced dozens of photo shoots , lead STRONGCAMP , and have enjoyed every moment of it ! My focus now is helping competitors beyond the stage as they begin to adapt back into a normal and more sustainable lifestyle .

DO YOU MAINTAIN THE SAME DISCIPLINE AND ROUTINE AS YOU DID WHEN YOU WERE IN THE MILITARY ?

Yes and No . I make my bed every day , I am always early , and physical fitness is part of my everyday routine . As much as routine is very important to me , I have also learned to be okay with breaking routines from time to time . Honor , Courage , and Commitment are the core values the Marines instilled in me and have helped me immensely in my life . Being a business owner allows me to have some flexibility with routine and structure , but discipline is a part of everything I do .

WHAT WOULD YOU TELL OTHER WOMEN WHO ARE INTERESTED IN GETTING INTO THE MILITARY ?

I would encourage them to follow their heart . If this decision is what you want , then go for it ! For me , being in the military gave me tools that I didn ’ t have . Traits that I have used to propel myself forward , both personally and professionally . When I look back , I wouldn ’ t change a thing . All of the decisions I have made have brought me to where I am today . I am a better leader because of it . Just make sure you are clear as to the reason why you are doing this . It ’ s a big commitment .
