AROUND THE SCHOOL
Foundation Speakers for 2018
The Guildford Grammar School
Foundation was established over 40 years
ago to provide ongoing financial support
and independence to the School.
The Foundation also manages the money
used to fund various scholarships and
bursaries offered by the School. This money
has usually been donated or bequeathed for
the specific purpose of providing someone
with the same opportunity as the donor.
Throughout the year, the Foundation
sponsors visiting authors and presenters,
under the Foundation Speaker Series.
Award-winning speaker, author and
teenage expert, Michelle Mitchell, visited
the School in March, speaking to students
across the school on the subject of healthy
relationships.
In June we hosted Andrew Fuller for a series
of staff and student presentations as well

as a presentation on Guerrilla Tactics for
Parents. Andrew has recently been described
as an “interesting mixture of Billy Connolly,
Tim Winton and Frasier Crane” and as
someone who “puts the heart back into
psychology”.
As a clinical psychologist, Andrew Fuller
works with many schools and communities
in Australia and internationally, specialising
in the wellbeing of young people and their
families. He is a Fellow of the Department of
Psychiatry and the Department of Learning
and Education Development at the University
of Melbourne.
In August we are pleased to again
welcome Paul Dillon back to the School,
to provide information sessions on drug
and alcohol issues for both our students
and our parents. The parent workshop
will be advertised in the weekly Bulletin
in late July.
