Cross Country
The Prep School Quarter Cross Country was held on Tuesday 22 May in what can only be
described as gloriously warm weather and certainly not true of traditional cross-country conditions.
The Swan River coupled with the beautiful sunshine provided an amazing backdrop for students as they
ran with determination and willpower around the course. Well done to our individual winners (listed below) for
their fabulous efforts and congratulations to North Quarter who were the eventual winners following a hard-fought
battle over the 7 races.

Champion Dads
A Champion Dads group has recently been formed in the
Preparatory School as part of the Fathering Project’s Schools’
Program, which aims to work closely with schools to assist
fathers and father figures to be the best they can be.
Fathering is not an issue that is talked a lot about amongst fathers,
yet there are enormous benefits for both dads and kids when dads
feel supported and informed to enable them to be the best fathers
then can be.
A Fathering Project School Group is a group of dads who work
to build an enjoyable social group that encourages interaction,
knowledge and skills of fathers and father figures. Most importantly
it is an opportunity for dads to get together in a relaxed, informal
environment.
Our group of dads is called Champion Dads and they have run several
successful events so far for fathers in the school community. They are
not called Champion Dads because they are perfect dads, but because
they are committed to championing the need for being better dads for
the sake of their kids, their partners and the community.

Some events that the Champion Dads have organised so far
include a Fathering Project Breakfast, a Dads and Kids’ Camp out
on Roberts Oval and a Dads’ Catch-up at the Rose and Crown
Hotel. Other events are planned for the year and these will be
communicated through the Bulletin and the GGS App.
