Girls’ sport update
Welcoming girls into their first term of sport at Guildford Grammar School also meant welcoming them into a strong and
inclusive sporting tradition. The Girls’ Program is designed to provide new experiences for the students and to support
excellence in existing codes. As we reflect on a busy and exciting term, the recurring theme through all of the girls’ sports was
the development of the culture of inclusion, team work and embracing the Guildford 3G spirit.
As part of a broader Aquatics approach,
we introduced open water swims alongside
traditional pool swimming. Many of our
swimmers completed their first 500m
open water swim, a personal challenge
worthy of mention, and some of our
already experienced open water swimmers
challenged themselves with the 1.25km or
2.5 km distances. With four girls achieving
top three finishes in their respective
categories we have set a great benchmark
for the upcoming season.
At the women’s triathlon in Hillarys, we
entered teams and individuals across the full
range of events and distances. This event
exemplified the growing Guildford Spirit,
with our girls embracing their individual and
team challenges and positively supporting
the endeavours of the whole group. Such
was the response to this event that we will
be offering a full Triathlon program in Term 4.
Stepping out in their whites for the first
game in the Perth Scorchers League, our
Year 7/8 girls became the first senior girls’
School Beach Cup, with one of our teams
making the finals. With our new Beach
Volleyball facilities now completed we look
forward to the growth of this popular sport.
Water Polo will continue to be a focus as
we look to grow interest in the junior years.
Our performance athletes competed in
the STRIVE Athletics Program and we are
looking forward to expanding Athletics
across two full terms, with our girls able to
select this as a dedicated sport for summer.

represented the School at the School
Tennis Cup. Our Year 11 girls represented
the School in basketball and we entered

It was particularly exciting to launch the
Equestrian program in the Senior School.
From riders taking their first tentative rides
to our accomplished riders representing
the School in a variety of disciplines at the
Inter-school Equestrian Festival, the program
offered all of our riders an opportunity to
sample a wide range of equestrian sports. It
is this broad approach we look forward to
expanding on as we continue to embed this
sport in our community.
