Netball:
new teams to grand final winners
The 2018 captains of the two GGS netball teams, who both
won their grand finals, talk about their outstanding season. nerves change our game. We held our heads high and with a large
group of vocal GGS supporters we won!
GGS 7/8 A Team Within our squad some of our girls were selected to play in the Perth
Lions teams as well as others being invited to join the Perth Netball
Association talent development program.
2018 has been a year of firsts for Guildford Grammar School netball!
We had the honour of being the first group of girls to represent the
Senior School in netball.
Our coaches, Sherrie Errington and Jemma Ogilvie, shared their
passion for netball with us every week, encouraging us to be better,
play as a team and to display the Guildford 3G qualities of hard,
committed and united.
Our season had many highlights but the most memorable was
winning the grand final for the A and B teams. The A team knew
that our opponents would come out wanting the win and we had to
play as a team, back each other up and try not to let the grand final
Our teacher in charge of netball, Miss Haddleton, was excellent at
providing us with as many opportunities to play as possible. If our
small squad managed to achieve all of this in the first year of netball
at GGS, we are very excited to see what the future holds.

GGS 7/8 B Team
It was the first year of girls’ netball in the Senior School and what an
amazing group of girls I got to share this experience with! With the
support and talent of our incredible coaches, we overcame adversity
and lots of injuries throughout the season to win our grand final
match.
My personal highlight of the year was the huddle when both
teams had won their respective grand final matches and we got to
experience each other’s success!
Thank you to our coach, Jemma Ogilvie. You have shown us how
to be passionate and focused, yet always play with fairness and
humility. Thank you also to Coach Sherrie and Miss Haddleton for
taking GGS netball into this new era, with the understanding that we
are not just players, not just a team, we are a community.
